User Interface
The LSCM user interface comprises the following areas.
Area | Description |
Projects | For the display of the projects and especially for the creation of the LSCM reports. |
Customers | For the display of the customers and for the association of the customers with price lists. |
Suppliers | For the display of the suppliers and for the association of the suppliers with price lists. |
Price Lists | For the creation and administration of price lists. |
User-Defined Task Types | For the creation and administration of user-defined task categories. |
The language in which the LSCM interface is displayed depends on the language settings selected in the Web browser.
LSCM continually syncs especially the presented project information with the corresponding information in Across. However, the LSCM interface is not refreshed automatically. You can refresh the presented information by going to another section in LSCM and then returning or manually refreshing the respective page (by pressing F5).
In the Projects, Customers, and Suppliers sections, you can change the sorting of the overviews by clicking the header of the desired column. If you click the column header again, the sorting will be reversed.
Projects
In the Projects section, all Across projects (except for archived projects) are displayed along with relevant project information.
Click Report to generate a report for the selected project on the basis of a defined price list.
Furthermore, you can create price comparisons. They provide a possibility e.g. to compare the prices of various suppliers for a translation service.
If the project does not meet the required preconditions and is thus classified as a complex project, the button for creating a report will be grayed out.
Using the state buttons (All, Unreleased, In progress, Finished), you can limit the list to the projects with the respective status. Using the search window, you can also systematically search for specific projects. The search is performed in the project names and in the project descriptions.
Customers
In LSCM, customers correspond to the relations administered in Across. Thus, the Customers section displays all relations that are set up in Across.
To create a report for a customer, at least one price list must be assigned to the customer (see Price Lists).
Price Lists
Price lists contain the price categories for the calculation of the LSCM reports.
To be able to create reports on the basis of a price list, the price list must be associated with the respective customer or supplier.
When a report is created, the elements of a price list are processed top down as long as corresponding categories are found in the price list for all values in the Across reports. Therefore, you should first define the more specific price categories in the price lists, e.g. for specific language directions like "German – English". Thereafter, you should define the more general price categories, e.g. the price category for the language direction "German – All Languages". Otherwise, a project with the language direction "German – English" would be calculated on the basis of the general price category for "German – All Languages", not on the basis of the specific price category for "German – English", as the first comes before the latter in the price list.
You can change the order of the price categories within a price list retroactively by dragging them to the desired position by keeping the left mouse button pressed.
Price data are always displayed with two decimal places. This is so even if price data have been defined with three decimal places. However, the price is calculated on the basis of the price data with three decimal places. Price data with more than three decimal places are rounded to three decimal places.
Price lists must suit the project and especially the underlying workflow for which they are to be used. For a project with the translation and correction workflow, it is thus necessary to create a price list in which the price categories are defined on the basis of the translation and correction workflow.
Reporting templates from Across are not taken into consideration in LSCM.
When creating or editing price lists and price categories, you can use the following icons.
User-Defined Task Types
Under User-defined task categories, you can create and manage user-defined task categories. User-defined task categories serve the input of tasks that are not billed on the basis of the normal parameters (word count), but by hours, e.g. project management, layout revision, or terminology work.
