Paragraph States

Each paragraph in Across has an editing state. This means that status information is stored for every paragraph that you translate. For example, the editing states Untouched, Touched, and Translated are available for translations.

The editing states assist in systematically processing the document. For example, this concept prevents a paragraph from being overlooked during the translation. The editing state of each paragraph is displayed in the form of icons in the middle of the Context View.

When changing to the next paragraph after entering text, the edited paragraph will automatically be set to the editing state Touched. Under Tools > User Settings > crossDesk > Target Editor, you can also change the configuration in such a way that the edited paragraph is automatically set to Translated (final paragraph state). In this way, you do not need to manually set the paragraph to Translated.

Only paragraphs that have been set to the editing state Translated are stored in crossTank. This ensures that only fully translated paragraphs are stored in crossTank.

Icons

Each paragraph within Across is provided with a state. The following icons illustrate the various states:

	Untouched	The paragraph has not been edited yet.
	Keep source	The paragraph has been marked in such a way that the source-language contents are transferred to the target document upon check-out.
	Touched	The paragraph has been edited.
	Translated	The translation of the paragraph is finished.
	Pre-translated/ touched	The paragraph has been translated automatically on the basis of crossTank entries.
	Pre-translated/ touched (context match)	The paragraph has been automatically pre-translated. In this process, a context match was inserted in the translation.
	Pre-translated/ touched (structure match)	The paragraph has been automatically pre-translated. In this process, a structure match was inserted in the translation.
	Pre-translated/ touched (context and structure match)	The paragraph has been automatically pre-translated. In this process, a context and structure match was inserted in the translation.
	Machine-translated/ touched	The paragraph has been automatically translated by means of a machine translation plugin.
	Pre-translated/ translated	The paragraph has been translated automatically on the basis of crossTank entries. Afterwards it was edited and set to Translated by the translator. Or the editing state was automatically set to Translated via the option under Tools > System Settings > General > Project Settings Templates > crossTank > Pre-translation.
	Pre-translated/ translated (context match)	The paragraph has been automatically pre-translated. In this process, a context match was inserted in the translation. Afterwards it was edited and set to Translated by the translator. Or the editing state was automatically set to Translated via the option under Tools > System Settings > General > Project Settings Templates > crossTank > Pre-translation.

Afterwards it was edited and set to Translated by the translator. Or the editing state was automatically set to Translated via the option under Tools > System Settings > General > Project Settings Templates > crossTank > Pre-translation.
	Machine-translated/ translated	The paragraph has been automatically translated by means of a machine translation plugin. Afterwards it was edited and set to Translated by the translator. Or the editing state was automatically set to Translated via the option under Tools > System Settings > General > Project Settings Templates > crossTank > Pre-translation.
	Pre-translated with auto-changes	The paragraph has been translated automatically on the basis of crossTank entries. Details such as dates were detected and adjusted in this process.
	Reviewed	The paragraph has been checked by a reviewer.
	Corrected	The paragraph has been corrected by a corrector.

Locked paragraphs are displayed with a gray background. These paragraphs cannot be edited because another user is working on them or the project manager has locked them for editing.
