Templates

In Across, you can customize all settings for the project creation under consideration of your needs and application scenarios. If you do not want to configure these settings anew every time, you can define various templates that contain the preferred settings.

Tip

Most of these templates are defined by the customer. Thus, when you receive tasks via the supply chain (i.e. projects not set up directly by you), the settings will be transmitted to you as read-only. We recommend discussing the settings with the customer in advance in order to establish a good basis for your work.

The following templates can be defined in Across:

Document Settings Template (DST)

A document settings template determines how a document is handled when it is checked in (= imported) to Across. This affects e.g. how things will be (or will not be) displayed to the translator when he processes his task.

You can create DSTs for all supported formats in Across; of course, it is even possible to create several DSTs for each format.

The project manager selects a DST when setting up a project.

Project Settings Template (PST)

A project settings template determines all non-document-specific settings of a project, e.g. translation memory settings (storing settings, penalties, pre-translation), the terminology settings, and the system settings and whether e.g. MT may be used.

Different PSTs can be useful e.g. when working with different subjects or if MT is to be used for certain projects only.

QM Template (QM v7.0)

A QM template determines which quality management criteria are to be applied when checking a task (e.g. translation). Apart from numerous predefined criteria, you can define your own QM criteria with the help of regular expressions.

Different QM templates can be useful e.g. if the QM check is to be conducted differently depending on the text type, particularly also as far as mandatory criteria are concerned.

Reporting Template

Reports provide an overview of all important information and statistics related to projects in Across. In this way, you can see how much text still needs to be translated, which facilitates the time and budget planning.

In the reporting templates, you can e.g. determine match ranges for billing your translations. Additionally, you can determine the information to be included in the report, e.g. sentences, paragraphs, and standard lines.

Packaging Template

Working with other Across Servers or external translators involves the exchange of packages with them. The packages contain everything the various parties need in order to finish their tasks, e.g. the actual task(s) and the associated TM entries and terminology.

In the packaging templates, the customer determines what is to be transmitted. For example, the transmission of the TM and terminology can be limited to certain subject areas.
