Subjects are attributes that can be added to projects, translation units, and terminology entries as additional information.
In Across, attributes play a key role, as all translation units are stored in a single, central database. For example, attributes allocate translation units to a particular subject. This makes sure that the translations are stored in the right context and will only be available in this context.
In our example, you will create a subject named Test Subject. Later on, this subject will be relevant in the context of other instructions. For instance, you will be able to identify all translations stored with this attribute, e.g. for the purpose of deleting them from the TM.
Setting up Subjects
Under Enter new subject, enter the string Test Subject and click Add. The subject has thus been created, and you can use it in a project settings template.
By default, the entered subject will be created as a main subject. For sub-subjects, activate the option Sub-subject of and select the respective subject from the drop-down list. However, in our example we will use Test Subject as a main subject.
