Creating Relations

What needs to be done beforehand?

  • Exchange contact details with the customer

About Relations

Relations are attributes that can be added to projects, translation units, and terminology entries as additional information. In Across, relations can be supplemented with contact details etc. and usually represent customers. By default, relations are defined as single-value attributes, i.e. only one relation can be selected per project. We recommend keeping this setting.

Tip

In Across, attributes play a key role, as all translation units are stored in a single, central database. For example, attributes allocate translation units to a particular subject. This makes sure that the translations are stored in the right context and will only be available in this context.

Below, you will create a relation for the example workflow.

This is how it works

  1. Opening the Relations Module
  2. Creating a Relation
  3. Determining the Relation Properties

Opening the Relations Module

In the module bar on the left-hand side, click Relations.

Determining the Relation Properties

On the General tab, enter a name for the relation, e.g. Test Relation. Additionally, you may want to enter the customer's web address. On the other tabs, you can enter contacts and the address of the customer. Confirm with OK.
