Creating a Project
Preparing the Source File
Review the source file before checking it in to Across. For example, check the word count or any passages that you might not need in Across and can therefore block by means of a suitable DST. After these preparations, start the Across Client.
When using the example file, you can skip the preparation step.
Determining a Project Name and Adding Source Files
Enter a project name and add the source file by clicking the respective button or via drag and drop. You can even add an entire folder. However, please make sure that it only contains the source files and that all source files have the same language, as the project structure of Across provides for only one source language per project. However, you may use different file formats.
The project ID is automatically (sequentially) assigned, but can be changed if necessary.
If reference material is available, e.g. a PDF showing the final layout or screenshots/images that could be beneficial for the translation, you can attach such.
Then click Next.
Determining the Project Settings
Here, select all project settings, e.g. the required project and reporting templates. Project attributes are set according to the selected project settings template; however, you can customize them if necessary.
When following the example workflow, select the newly created templates (Test Rep and Test PST).
Choose a suitable project manager and set the due date for the project. Take the size of the source text and the planned workflow steps into consideration, leaving enough time for each task.
Then click Next.
Selecting the Source and Target Languages
Select the source language of the added documents as well as all required target languages. You can set different due dates for the various target languages. A little icon indicates whether machine pre-translation will be performed for the respective target language.
Then click Next.
