Indexes
Apart from entries and terms, indexes can also be created in crossTerm. Usually, indexes consist of language-independent information. Therefore, index information refers to the concept and is thus added and edited at entry level.
Typical examples of the use of indexes include DIN and ISO numbers or material numbers (e.g. of components) that are recorded in entries in addition to the terms and that clearly identify the underlying concept. Indexes can also be used to manage information on bibliographical sources.
Indexes are created and managed in a corresponding section at entry level of the crossTerm settings.
Administrative Index Information
For every index value, the respective index information is stored and can be displayed in the crossTerm (crossTerm Manager and crossTerm Web) if desired.
- The following administrative index information is stored:
- the Across user and the date and time of creation of the index value
- the Across user and the date and time the index value was last modified
Both when creating new user-defined crossTerm layouts and when editing existing layouts, you can select the administrative index information to be displayed for each index (no administrative index information is displayed in the default layout):
Depending on their definition in the respective crossTerm layout, the index information is displayed in the crossTerm views (the following figure shows the standard browse mode):
