Superscript & Subscript

In some cases, it may be necessary to superscript or subscript letters or characters of a term, e.g. in m2 and CO2.

A special syntax is available for superscripting or subscripting text. Superscripted/subscripted text is introduced by a $ character. Subsequently, superscripted text is enclosed by two ^ signs (circumflex or caret sign). Subscripted text is enclosed by two _ signs (underscores).

The above-mentioned syntax is also required when searching for terms containing superscripted or subscripted text. For example to search for the term m2 you have to enter m$^2^ in the search field.

Superscript

$^Superscript^

Example: Upon completion of the term creation, m$^2^ produces the term m2.

Subscript

$_Subscript_

Example: Upon completion of the term creation, CO$_2_ produces the term CO2.
