crossTerm Instances
crossTerm instances allow dividing crossTerm database in subsections. These subsections are self-contained and thus have their own data categories, templates, access rights, etc. Thus, crossTerm instances are especially suitable for managing separate terminology bases separately, e.g. for specific brands or subsidiaries.
Default Instance
One of the crossTerm instances is set as default instance. This default instance is always preselected when importing terminology or e.g. when opening crossTerm settings. Of course, another instance can be selected if necessary, provided there are other instances available and the respective user has the needed rights.
The definition of the default instance takes place in the dialog window for the management of the crossTerm instances. To do this, go to the crossTerm settings via Tools > Settings in the crossTerm Manager, and click Manage. Using the drop-down list, you can set the default instance.
Using Instances
When creating a new entry, an instance is always specified. The default instance is always preselected. But if necessary, a different instance can be selected by means of the drop-down list.
A respective crossTerm filter enables the search in crossTerm to be limited to one or several crossTerm instances.
User Group Rights of Instances
The addition, editing, and deletion of crossTerm instances are controlled by means of corresponding rights in the crossTerm section of the user group rights.
In the Instances section, you can define the access and editing rights for each crossTerm instance separately. By default, the section contains the subsection Rights for new instances and another subsection for every created crossTerm instance.
The Rights for new instances subsection defines the rights that are automatically available for the new created instance. Of course, these predefined rights can later be modified in the subsection of the corresponding, new created instance.
