crossTerm Modes

When working in the crossTerm Manager, you can use one of two different modes that can be toggled on the fly during operation. Apart from the conventional crossTerm mode (the so-called standard browse mode), a plain browse mode is also available that presents information in a linear manner.

To switch between the two modes, you should only select the desired mode in the corresponding drop-down list.

crossTerm Layouts

crossTerm layouts define how entries and terms are presented in the crossTerm Manager. The layouts determine which data categories are displayed and in which order and formatting they are displayed.

By default, terminological entries in the crossTerm Manager are displayed in a predefined layout. In addition to this default standard layout, you can also create user-defined layouts.

The newly created layout can be defined individually. On the one hand, you can select the data categories at entry and term level that are to be displayed in the layout. You can also define the order in which the data categories are displayed and customize their display and formatting.

As a matter of principle, the default layout displays all data categories for which values have been defined at entry and term level. Unlike user-defined layouts, the default layout cannot be modified.

You can select the desired crossTerm layout by means of the respective drop-down list in the entry information section in the crossTerm Manager or in crossTerm Web:

The icon including the drop-down list for selecting crossTerm layouts is only displayed if more than one layout is available for selection.

Layout rights

By default, a new public layout is not available to any user group. Therefore, a newly created layout should first be assigned to respective user groups. You can do this by means of a right in the Layouts subsection of the crossTerm section of the user group rights.
