User Settings: crossDesk > crossTerm
crossTerm
Under crossTerm, you can define the colors, the font type, and the font size of the terms displayed in the crossTerm window in crossDesk. You can also select different color settings for released and unreleased source and target language terms and for subjects.
You can also define whether the quick saving of entries or term pairs to crossTerm also includes the data concerning project, relation and subject from the task currently being performed.
By means of an option for the quick saving of entries to crossTerm (activated by default), you can determine that the entry creation step is to be skipped. (The step is displayed by default, as it represents the basis for new terms.) If the option is activated, the default entry template will automatically be used. Moreover, the option will only apply if no mandatory fields – i.e. data categories that must be processed in order to save the entry – are defined in the default entry template. If mandatory fields are defined, the step for the creation of the entry will be displayed even if the option is activated.
You can also specify whether the next search in crossTerm is to start automatically when switching to another paragraph in crossDesk.
Moreover, you can determine that Across is to proactively perform the search for the following paragraphs of the document, i.e. to create the so-called cache. In this way, the search results are displayed immediately when you go to the next paragraph, and you do not need to wait for the search to be performed.
You can define the caching in such a way that it is generally performed for all paragraphs – i.e., regardless of the respective paragraph state – or only for paragraphs with a specific paragraph state. For example, if you are currently processing all paragraphs whose editing state is Touched, you can configure the caching in such a way that the following three paragraphs with this editing state are taken into consideration.
Please note that the existing cache will be updated by your own crossTank and/or crossTerm entries. In contrast, if entries that already exist in the cache are edited or new entries are created by someone else, these will only be taken into consideration after crossDesk is opened anew.
Finally, you can determine, on the one hand, that languages and sublanguages of the terms displayed in crossDesk are displayed in the form of flag icons.
In addition you can determine that terms that are also part of multi-word terms not be displayed in crossDesk.
The following example explains how this option works:
If this option is deactivated, both the multi-word terms and the overlapped terms will be displayed. In the following example, both the multi-word term "automatic updates" and the term "update" are displayed:
If the option is activated, only the multi-word terms will be displayed. Overlapped terms will not be displayed. In the following example, the multi-word term "automatic updates" will be displayed, but the term "update" will not be displayed, as it also occurs in "automatic updates":
