System Settings: General > crossTank
Under crossTank, you can configure basic settings for your work with crossTank, the Across translation memory.
Use the default settings of crossTank only after carefully reviewing the potential effects of a change and only change the settings infrequently – especially if you use crossGrid and/or crossWAN – as the most recently selected settings will also be transmitted to the respective Trusted Server and offline users when transmitting crossGrid and crossWAN packages.
You can first specify whether Across should auto-change the date, time, and number formats when carrying out pre-translations. For example, if your source text contains dates, these dates can automatically be 'translated' into the standard format of your target language and inserted into the target text. After you have performed a pre-translation, the paragraphs containing such adjustments are set to the paragraph state Pre-translated with auto-changes (). These changes are performed on the basis of the language settings.
Please note that the option for the automatic change of the date, time, and number formats, which is enabled by default, should only be disabled after thorough clarification with the Across support.
You can also determine whether the information is to be stored in crossTank in the Rich Translation Memory mode. By activating the checkbox, formatting, inline objects, and special characters are stored in crossTank.
If the Rich TM is activated, you can select whether Across is to automatically adjust placeables, formats, and tags during pre-translation or when detecting and inserting crossTank entries in crossDesk. In this case, Across will try to make adjustments as far as possible, e.g. the pre-translation will be performed even if the source text contains a different placeable or different formatting than the corresponding crossTank entry.
You can activate the display of auto-adjustments in crossDesk by means of the corresponding option under Tools > User Settings > crossDesk > crossTank.
Finally, you can determine whether certain translations are to be classified as context-independent translations. These are translations for which more than 100 translation contexts have been stored for a language direction.
