Font Mapping

When checking in a document, Across ascertains whether the fonts used in the source document are installed on that particular computer and whether they support the code pages of the target language. If a font does not support the code pages of the target language in question, i.e. if the font is not capable of properly displaying all of the characters in the target language, this font has to be replaced by a different one in the target language (this is called font mapping).

A code page is a character-encoding table that provides text characters for a certain language or language group in the computer.

If Across recognizes that a certain font in the source document is not installed on that particular computer or that it does not support the code pages of the target language(s), a dialog will appear.

• The dialog pane offers three options:
• Skip check: Select this option if you are sure that the font in question supports all code pages of all target languages.
• Repeat check: Select this option if you installed the needed fonts in the meantime.
• Add a suitably matching font to the selected document template (mapping): Select this option if a font replacement should be carried out. For more details, please read the following explanation.
