Dedicated Server Installation
For a dedicated server installation, the Across Server must first be installed on one server. Thereafter, other Across components – such as the crossTank-Server – can be installed on another server. In this way, you can achieve load balancing.
For IT security reasons, it is often advisable or even necessary to operate Across components such as crossWeb available on the Internet on a secure, dedicated server in a DMZ (demilitarized zone).
In order to carry out the installation of the dedicated servers on additional servers correctly, a CAP file is used that is created in the crossAdmin administration software of Across after the Across Server has been installed.
For operation in the DMZ, the components crossVPN, crossWeb, and crossTerm Web usually need to be licensed separately. For further information, please consult your contact at Across Systems GmbH.
The crossVPN Proxy Server requires access to all Across ports (2309, 2310, and 2311 as default, in each case TCP) as well as the SQL Server port (1433 as default (TCP)) in order to function correctly.
Below you will find instructions for the installation on a dedicated server (based on the example of the crossVPN/crossWeb installation). To install other dedicated servers, you can proceed analogously. The scenarios offered in the Installation Wizard contain all Across components required for the respective installation and operation.
A dedicated server installation should only be carried out in close contact with the Across team!
For further information, please consult your contact at Across Systems GmbH.
General information on Across services is available at www.across.net/en/services/.
For the deployment of the crossVPN Proxy Server, a corresponding option in the crossVPN module should be enabled on the Across Server side. Therefore, go to the crossVPN module of the Across Server and click Settings. Activate the option Use crossVPN Proxy.
