Press Report
Across Systems GmbH has released a new solution for quickly and securely creating high-quality translations in enterprises: the Across Language Assistant (ALA). By providing direct access to the central databases of the Across Language Server, the Across Language Assistant makes it possible to use the translations from the connected translation memory and terminology database – also and especially for generating quick translations on the fly. It is also possible to connect a machine translation engine if needed.
"Many of our customers have long been looking for a way to make the valuable data from the Across Language Server available throughout the enterprise,” says Moritz Messmer, developer of the Across Language Assistant.
In international undertakings, multilingual communication is regularly used in all areas. To reduce costs and save time, many people in such organizations use machine translation (MT) primarily to translate short phrases and individual sentences. Free engines that are available online are usually used to do this. Due to the lack of alternatives, it is necessary to accept the risk that sensitive information may also end up on the Internet with no protections in place. In addition, this suboptimal solution leads to increasing use of inconsistent terminology, in part because there is no information available to keep this from happening. Whether you are communicating in a foreign language with service providers, customers, or colleagues at other locations, the resulting poor translations and incorrect terminology can cause misunderstandings, incorrect deliveries, misuse of tools and products, and various other problems.
High quality translations that maintain data security
In the form of a compact translation client, the Across Language Assistant supports companies in overcoming such challenges. It is used in the workplace like any other translation engine. Whenever required, an organization’s employees can fall back on existing high-quality translations and use the correct terminology in every language. Typical use cases might include quickly translating correspondence with customers or authoring brief texts for social media posts. In this way companies ensure both that the data remains protected and that it does not end up on the Internet in an uncontrolled manner. The Across Language Assistant allows companies to engage in multilingual communication in a manner that is simply better and more secure.
