Feature Voting at Across User Conference

On May 6, Across Systems GmbH invited customers and other interested persons to its seventh user conference. Apart from various specialized lectures and workshops, the presentation of the Across Language Server v6 was met with enthusiasm. The new version of the translation management system will be available from the end of June. Another highlight was the live feature voting, in which conference participants had the opportunity to vote on future extensions in Across.

The keynote speech by Gabriele Vollmar, Chairwoman of the German Association for Knowledge Management (GfWM), on the subject of swarm intelligence was followed by a presentation of the new features of the upcoming Across version. For example, to make the project management even more transparent, key information will henceforth be accessible on the Across Dashboard in the form of modern dashlets. Custom queries of translation and project management indicators can be configured in the Project Management Cockpit. Moreover, the Across Data Cube can be used to analyze and compare figures based on Across projects directly in MS Excel. In the future, reviewers will be able to work in the simplified, web-based Review Mode.

Transparency and Customer Proximity

"For the development of v6, we cooperated closely with our customers. As a result, we will shortly be able to present a new version with numerous new functions, backend improvements, and even more flexible adaptability to individual user requirements. A modern, clearly structured design delivers a quick overview of all important information. The positive feedback that we received even before the official release of Across v6 confirms that transparency and customer proximity are the right way", explains Stefan Kreckwitz, Chief Technology Officer at Across Systems GmbH. Specific user needs will also play an important role in subsequent versions. For this purpose, a feature voting was conducted during the user conference, enabling the participants to select their three favorites from a list of possible extensions. At least three of the features that received the highest number of votes will be implemented in the successor to the Across Language Server v6.

Lectures and Workshops

After the product presentation, more lectures and workshops were held on subjects such as cost reduction potential in the translation process, best practice in support, consulting and training, indicators, translation memory optimization, process automation, and terminology. The multifaceted program, the opportunity to engage in personal interchange with Across staff, and – last but not least – the transparent involvement of the participants in the further development of Across made this year's user conference an all-out success.
