Groups

The client/server architecture used by Across allows practically all users to access centrally stored data at any time. In order to restrict access to data by assigning specific rights to users, thus creating different roles in the translation process, Across has groups that can be used to assign uniform rights and settings to multiple users.

The following predefined user groups represent the usual roles in the translation process and are available in Across by default:

  • Supervisor
  • Project manager
  • Terminologist
  • Translators
  • Reviewer
  • Corrector
  • crossTerm Web "read/write access" and crossTerm Web "read-only access": Members of a crossTerm Web group can research, change and also add terminology in crossTerm on the Internet by using a browser.

With a corresponding license, the following user groups are also available:

  • crossAPI: As a member of this group, you can utilize the programming interface of Across.
  • crossAnalytics
  • Linguistic supply chain managers

If you select a group, all Across users who are members of this group will be displayed in the bottom right window.

Group rights

Each user group has specific rights. For example, the user group Translators is authorized by default to add translation units to crossTank, but not for example to create projects.

You can restrict some rights in the crossTank and crossTerm sections to certain languages by means of the icn_mehr_drei-punkte icon. You can decide whether a particular right should only be available for certain languages and sublanguages and/or whether it should be available for languages enabled in the settings of the respective user.
