India: Land of Untapped Opportunities

for the Language Industry

India: Land of Untapped Opportunities

With a population of in excess of 1.2 Bn, 22 official languages, India is a great example of a multi-cultural and multi-lingual society. With a literacy rate of around 60%, the average educated Indian can speak in more than 2 languages and many of them 3 languages. Add to that, the subcontinental countries, such as Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. Each of these countries work as a part of the ecosystem in the region.

This presentation provides an insight into the potentially huge opportunity for the language industry that remains largely ignored due to many myths and misconceptions. We will look at some unique success stories and examples to support our case.

Guest speaker: Biraj Rath, CEO of Braahmam Net Solutions, a multi-language service provider based in Delhi and Dublin.
