Today CIKLOPEA is a modern, 21st century company with top quality employees, which implements top industry standards in terms of quality processes and information security, and uses the latest technology.

The Starting Point

The secret to Ciklopea’s success story lies in a focus on the three fundamental elements of our production process: technology, context, and people. We offer a combination of professional human knowledge and language technology that enables us to operate in the best way possible. We always take into account the context of the source material, formats, and target audiences. We deliver translations and localized content speedily and manage the process cost-efficiently. Moreover, we make sure that our approach is compatible with our customer’s existing infrastructure. Ciklopea introduced Across back in 2008. The decision to set up an internal Across Server infrastructure was based on the desire to meet the requirements of our customers who use Across in their business environment. Ciklopea was awarded Across V6 certification in 2015 and Across V6.3 certification in 2016. The latest Across V7 certification confirms our continued expertise in the software. Our highly developed, multi-phase process involves translators, editors, and reviewers. In some cases, software and DTP specialists, and dedicated QM teams are also deployed. In this process, localized material is checked for a total of 16 criteria.

Thanks to the QM feature in Across, the review process has become faster. The crossTerm terminology system makes sure that the right terminology is used and no important terms are skipped.

Expanded Service Offering

The idea of setting up an internal Across Language Server emerged after customers approached us with requests to process translation tasks directly on the language platform. In Across, all projects are centrally managed in a shared work environment, regardless of the file format or language. Thanks to the intuitive workflow control, project managers can define automated release processes and distribute tasks. “In this way, we are able to offer our customers a one-stop service that includes not only translation and other linguistic tasks, but also project, user, and softkey management as well as other functionalities offered by the Across Language Server”, explains Mladen Stojak, CSO at Ciklopea.

Simplified Communication

Initially, Ciklopea used Across technology in the form of the Subcontractor Edition. Due to the growing number of customer using Across, we eventually switched to the LSP Edition. The scalable concept of Across with different editions allows for gradual adaptation of the software to the growing demand. The Subcontractor Edition and the LSP Edition are special editions of the Across Language Server that can be customized in accordance with the needs of language service providers. With these editions, the company is able to generate its own server certificates. Direct server-to-server interaction takes place over crossGrid, thereby greatly facilitating the data exchange between the customer and us. This functionality makes it much easier for the language service provider to forward the data to subcontractors. “Freelance translators can get a free of charge license for Across, which is not always possible with other software solutions”, observes Stojak. Depending on the assignment, freelancers can assume the role of the translator, corrector, reviewer, or terminologist. The translation is stored directly on the server, and once it is complete, it is reviewed by a second linguist. The project manager—who is also responsible for the final QM check prior to the delivery—handles and monitors the entire process including the translation status and the release directly on the server. Once all project steps are finished, Across automatically checks out the project and uploads the data back to the customer’s server. “As an organization, Ciklopea is ready for the future and new challenges, as it meets all prerequisites for further growth and development.
