crossTank

crossTank is the translation memory of Across.

As a sentence-pair memory, crossTank facilitates the recycling of translations created in the past.

It is used in various ways, for instance:

  • for the automatic pre-translation of sentences whose wording already occurred in the past - optionally already during the creation of a project
  • to recommend translations that are similar to previously translated sentences whose wording already occurred in the past - seamlessly integrated with the editor crossDesk
  • to show a word in the context in which it was used in the past within the scope of the concordance search complementary to the terminology system
  • when using the options for translation-oriented authoring: to show the authors wordings for which translations already exist.

The translation memory can be filled up in various ways:

  • as a learning system with every new translation
  • by importing existing translation memories via the TMX exchange format
  • by aligning document pairs in the source and target languages and transferring them to the sentence-pair memory.

crossTank is a basic feature of Across that is included in the product scope of the Across Language Server.

An interactive tutorial about the translation editor crossDesk and its interaction with the translation memory is available here.
