crossAPI

Connections whose integration depth exceeds the function scope of crossConnect are realized by authorized Across system integrators in the form of customer-specific solutions based on crossAPI.

crossAPI is the application programming interface of Across that enables freely programmable access to the Across Language Server. Compared to the various editions of crossConnect, crossAPI enables more comprehensive, individually adapted task-specific connections to systems and workflows.

crossAPI is documented in detail in the Across SDK as software development kit for system integrators.

Depending on the objective, one of two crossAPI types is used. The crossAPI SI stands for system integration in the sense of data exchange and initiation of processes in defined situations. It uses COM interfaces in the Windows environment and SOAP interfaces in the web environment (J2EE, PHP, etc.).

The application scenarios for crossAPI SI are as numerous as the connected third-party systems. For example, translation parameters can be transferred from Across to the content system, or context information from a catalog system can be displayed in Across.

The integration of Across in existing intranet portal solutions (e.g., SAP Enterprise Portals) opens a new dimension of networking. Also, technologies like single sign-on guarantee maximum usability. Across supports the implementation of service-oriented architectures as well as conventional closed systems.

The second crossAPI type is crossAPI Interactive (IA), which allows direct real-time access to the Across databases – especially to the translation memory crossTank and/or the terminology system crossTerm.

Application scenarios include the use of third-party editors for the translation, using Across as repository and for workflow and project control.

crossAPI SI and crossAPI IA are options for the Across Language Server and must be licensed separately.
