Skrivanek Expands, Initiates Company-wide Introduction of Across Technology

Translation service provider implements the Across Language Server as a central technology platform

PRAGUE / KARLSBAD, FEBRUARY 14, 2008 - Skrivanek, one of the top 20 translation service providers worldwide with more than 500 internal and 5,000 external employees in 51 subsidiaries in Europe, Asia and North America, has selected Across Systems technology. While other global players rely on their own proprietary technologies, Skrivanek has opted for the Across Language Server for its independent and open technology platform.

Skrivanek is deploying the Across Language Server to optimize processes and develop a continuous linguistc supply chain with its customers.

Jitka Steinmetzova, general manager of Skrivanek explains, "We retain our customers through the quality of our services and how well we optimize processes, not by using proprietary systems. We consider the Across Systems technology as an added value for all involved."

Skrivanek, headquartered in Prague, has customers that are leading companies in Central and Eastern Europe as well as global players such as Robert Bosch, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Philips and Peugeot. As a corporate technology platform, the Across Language Server will assist Skrivanek in providing high-quality translations in the shortest time possible to its prominent clientele.

“The demand for translations in Central and Eastern Europe has grown drastically, but the deployment of modern language technology is still in its infacy. With the introduction of the Across Language Server we set clear standards,” says Steinmetzova. "In-house, we benefit from the defined workflows which we implement through our terminals and quality assurance operations. With the Across Language Server, we will also now be able to organize networking across a multitude of locations
including thousands of translators much more efficiently and more consistently than we could until now.”

The introduction of the Across Language Server will also contribute to the streamlining of processes and efficient workflows while working in cooperation with external parties. Customers can exchange their data directly with the Language Server by means of open interfaces and special collaboration tools and be seamlessly integrated into the workflows. If desired, they can have direct access to the corresponding language resources such as the defined corporate terminology. The parameters, generated within the system, provide for maximal transparency regarding the costs incurred.

"As a result of using the Across Language Server, we implement a continuous linguistic supply chain including customers, different locations and individual translators", says Steinmetzova. "This is a crucial added value for our customers and will strengthen and further expand our positions in Central and Eastern Europe."

For Niko Nenschen, CEO of Across Systems, the partnership with Skrivanek is also of strategic importance: "This is not just because another worldwide top 20 service provider opted for us, but also because Eastern Europe is one of the fast growing markets. In addition to the introduction of the Across Language Server in-house, Skrivanek plans to introduce and implement it in their customers’ companies. This will enable seamless processes and make our Language Server the state-of-the-art technology in this growing market."
