Adobe and Across to Present Efficient Solutions for International Product Communication

The shortest way to manuals and product catalogs in multiple languages.

KARLSBAD, April 3, 2008 - In April, Adobe and Across will hit the road together with an event series entitled "Think Global: Multilingual Communication". By means of compact, practical lectures, the participants will learn how they can efficiently master the challenges of international product communication. The lecturers will elaborate strategies and solutions on the basis of the interaction between Adobe InDesign or Adobe FrameMaker and the Across Language Server, the central platform for all corporate language resources and translation processes. For instance, thanks to the seamless interaction of these tools, marketing and sales staff members, technical editors, and project and product managers can provide marketing and product documentation in several languages without delay.

The half-day information events will take place on April 17, 2008 in Neu-Isenburg near Frankfurt, on April 22, 2008 in Munich, and on May 7, 2008 in Hamburg.

Getting product manuals, catalogs, marketing material, and sales documents in several languages ready in due time is a growing challenge for enterprises operating on an international scale. For example, the EU directives on operator and user information have generated an almost exponential increase in the translation workload over the past years. Yet, legal requirements are just one aspect of the issue. For many global players, high-quality documents in multiple languages are also of key importance in the field of sales.

Adobe InDesign is used as a standard tool for creating marketing and sales documents, while Adobe FrameMaker is a popular tool for preparing technical documentation. The connection to the Across Language Server serves as the bridge to international product communication. The Across Language Server is an integrated solution that comprises a translation memory, a terminology system, and a universal translation editor as well as powerful tools for controlling and managing translation projects and for seamless collaboration of authors, translators, and correctors.

"Due to the high export rates in Germany, in particular, the industry is faced with the challenge of providing multilingual documentation and texts", explains Klaus Kurz, Business Development Manager at Adobe. "Therefore, the focus is increasingly shifting toward the translation process as a whole. The close integration of the Across Language Server with our layout products greatly accelerates the creative and editorial creation process."

Lecturers and Topics

At the beginning of the event, Klaus Kurz from Adobe will talk about "Perfectly Formatted Documents Around the Globe", providing an overview of the deployment of InDesign and FrameMaker. Subsequently, Christian Weih from Across will explain what a "linguistic supply chain" is and how it can be implemented with the Across Language Server. Finally, kuhnert GmbH (Munich), lindner software & consulting (Hamburg), and Noxum GmbH (Frankfurt) - partners of both Adobe und Across - will demonstrate the integration of both worlds in the form of seamless workflows. Under the motto "Think Global: Multilingual Communication", they will demonstrate efficient processes for generating documents in several language. Participation is free, but registration is required.
