KARLSBAD, Germany and LOS ANGELES – July 9, 2009 – Phoenix Contact GmbH is one more prominent company that decided to switch to the Across Language Server company-wide to create foreign language documents for its international business, to be still more efficient and consistent in the future.
Phoenix Contact Group, a leading provider of electric connection, electronic interface and industrial automation technology, is active in more than 70 countries worldwide. The multilingual communication of a portfolio with more than 60,000 individual products is a growing challenge that the company will meet through the introduction of the Across Language Server as a central platform for all language resources and translation processes.
The file formats to be translated range from Adobe FrameMaker to Microsoft Office to XML, InDesign and XLIFF. Various third-party systems, such as the Web Content Management system RedDot, will be connected to the Across Language Server to provide for seamless exchange of the content to be translated.
An internal department, a number of language service providers as well as directly commissioned freelance translators handle translations of various content into more than 18 languages. All of them will be linked in a seamless workflow via the Across Language Server and, in the future, will work on centrally stored, consistent data. In addition, a termbase contained in Across is available company-wide thanks to a web-based terminology portal, thus supporting staff members not directly concerned with translation issues to select the right word when authoring documents.
