Across Systems Implements Language Server at HypoVereinsbank
Web portal automates processes and makes language technology available company-wide
Glendale, Calif. and Karlsbad, Germany - August 6, 2008. HypoVereinsbank will deploy the Language Server of Across Systems as the central platform for all corporate language resources and translation processes.
Multilingualism is essential for all corporate communications at HypoVereinsbank, as part of the UniCredit Group. As a norm, a large number of documents are already provided in German, English, and Italian. Anticipating growing translation volumes, HypoVereinsbank has opted to implement the new corporate language portal technology from Across.
Depending on the document type, deadline, and target language, the 3,000+ translation jobs to be completed every year are delegated either to in-house translators or to selected external language service providers. All parties involved, both internally and externally, are directly connected to the Language Server of HypoVereinsbank, receiving access to the centralized language resources. This approach maximizes consistency in translations, ensures uniform corporate wording, and minimizes translation costs, thanks to the reuse of previously translated text segments.
It is planned that all 180,000 staff members of UniCredit Group will be able to access this platform via a Web-based language portal. Thus, translation projects can easily be set up in Across indicating all attributes and cost centers. This minimizes the e-mail traffic that is normally associated with this work and significantly accelerates processes. By relieving the project manager of repetitive tasks, the Web portal provides a substantial amount of added value.
