Burg Translations Chooses Across Language Server to Support Localization Services

LOS ANGELES AND CHICAGO - May, 2009 - Across Systems announced today that Burg Translations, a leading Chicago-based translation company, has selected the Across Language Server as its translation management system to support its customers in the medical, technical, legal and business industries. The centralized translation management software (TMS) platform from Across Systems will be used for complex localization projects in all 90 language pairs handled by the company.
Burg Translations, an ISO 9001:2000 and EN 15038 certified translation firm, serves many Fortune 500 clients around the world with a full range of localization, translation, desktop publishing and related language services. The company reviewed several leading translation management system offerings before choosing Across. According to Burg Translations‘ President and CEO, Lodovico Passalacqua, Burg chose the Across Language Server because of its comprehensive translation workflow, terminology management tools and its online capabilities.

The system was installed just a few weeks ago and training is already under way. Depending on the document context requirements, deadline, and target language, translation jobs to be completed are delegated either to in-house translators or to specialized external translators. All parties involved, including internal project managers and external translators, are connected seamlessly via the Language Server, receiving access to common language resources such as terminology and translation memory. This approach maximizes consistency in translations, ensures uniform wording, and minimizes translation costs, thanks to the reuse of previously translated text segments.
The transparent workflow tracking process minimizes e-mail traffic normally associated with project management and significantly accelerates turnaround. New terminology additions are automatically captured by the system, relieving the project manager of repetitive, non-value added tasks, thereby increasing productivity.
