Argo Translation Notes Increased Trust with Enterprise Clients, with Use of Across Language Server

Translation Provider Improves its Productivity and Transparency for its Clients

LOS ANGELES and CHICAGO – Aug. 3, 2009 – With globalization and the rise of the Internet as an international information source, localization service providers and translation bureaus face increasing numbers of projects where materials must be translated into many languages. To meet this requirement, Argo Translation of Chicago reviewed several software and workflow programs that would give them better control over their processes. With the decision to use the Across Language Server 18 months ago, Argo now finds itself a trusted and collaborative partner for its clients, and has increased its productivity more than 25 percent.

Argo Translation, a service provider specializing in complex projects, especially in medical translation, credits the transition to Across technology with streamlining the agency’s processes and giving its clients better control and transparency over projects and language assets.

Peter Argondizzo, founder and operations manager of Argo, says, “We reviewed all of our options with a special interest for increased oversight of the process, a proof-positive audit trail for all contributors down to the translated and reviewed word. Across technology has a verifiable standard operating conformance procedure facilitated by an audit log that is available on every project. That helped us to make our decision very quickly.”

With the move to Across, Argo gained a server-based, customizable-by-client solution that would allow all participants to work in a single, centralized platform environment. Automated processes, including the immediate availability of updated terminology, reduce errors and increase trust for the clients. With improved transparency for the clients, Argondizzo asserts the trust leads to increased loyalty, and Argo becomes an inherent part of the translation team, not just an outsourced vendor.

“This reduced error effect and administrative process consistency leads to a faster global release cycle for our clients,” says Argondizzo. “We find that by assessing each project upon completion, we are better able to predict production timelines, leading us to better quotations and tighter timelines for subsequent projects. Faster launch and better monitoring allow us to know exactly how many translators and editors we need for each job. It has resulted in at least 25 percent more productivity for our teams, as well as additional projects with repeat clients.”

Prior to working with Across technology, Argo was using six different systems, including SDLX and Trados, in addition to its own ERP system. Argo’s use of six systems has been reduced to just two – the Across Language Server and its own ERP – and currently, Argo is in the process of further integrating its ERP with Across. Open interfaces make it possible for corresponding systems like Argo’s own ERP to be seamlessly linked with the Across Language Server. Benefits of such an integration include a simplified exchange of data, automatically generated translation jobs, and context information sent from the corresponding system.
