Aberdeen Study on Technical Documentation Reveals Integrated Translation Management Solutions as Emerging Trend Among Top Performing Companies

Across Systems makes study available to its customers and prospects

LOS ANGELES - Jan. 13, 2010 – Across Systems, supplier of the world's leading independent linguistic supply chain technology, which sponsored Aberdeen Group’s recently released “Translating Product Documentation” study, is making the research findings available to its customers and prospects. A full copy of this report, identifying how top companies effectively manage translation and localization efforts while reducing costs and increasing efficiency, is available now.

The results of the study reveal that companies that are most successful in managing their translation and localization efforts, categorized as "Best-in-Class,” maintain lower costs, are more efficient, and produce higher quality work than their competitors. Best-in-Class companies save 240 percent over their competitors in translation expenses and 630 percent more in localization costs. They reduce the time required to complete translation projects by 30 percent and translate content into 48 percent more languages than their competitors.

“Our research clearly demonstrates that top companies, focused on ROI, effectively manage time and expenses involved with translation and localization projects,” said David Houlihan, senior research associate with Aberdeen’s Product Innovation and Engineering practice. “We found that leading companies utilize integrated translation environments and realize performance improvements more than three times those achieved by their competitors. This high level of productivity comes with no sacrifice to the quality of work either.”

The study outlines how the Best-in-Class achieve these results, with significant productivity drivers being: increased control and transparency over the entire process, “closed loop“ processes that promote internal and external accountability, and automated re-use of content.

“Aberdeen’s research identified that the integration of project and terminology management into translation management solutions is an emerging practice,” said Daniel Nackovski, president of Across Systems, Inc. “This study supports our strategy to include project and workflow management, a translation memory, a terminology system, and much more, in a unified work environment. With the Across Language Server, companies gain the most comprehensive solution for transparent and efficient translation management.”

The Across Language Server enables companies to gain comprehensive control, transparency, and integrity of their translation processes – tactics employed by the Best-in-Class companies. Across’s centralized platform manages all language resources, provides process automation, links third-party systems through an open architecture, and therefore, realizes a continuous and efficient linguistic supply chain.
