Delegating TranslationsFew industrial companies translate everything in-house. Translations are often entirely or partly outsourced to service providers or to international subsidiaries. At the end of the chain, translations are usually made by native freelance translators and revised by correctors. Outsourcing and the application of the native-speaker and four-eyes principles necessitate the involvement of numerous actors in the process. In view of this, apart from the integration of the project management and translation support, Across focuses on the networking of all actors involved in the translation process. For example, entire projects can be delegated from one Language Server to another. The individual translation or correction tasks are processed by clients that access the Language Server via internal networks, over the Internet, or by using a browser.
This results in seamless process chains without interface losses, even over several delegation stages – regardless of where the translation actually takes place and in an adaptive manner governed by the respective requirements. The consequence is that translations become available more rapidly, while the use of identical documents and resources yields a higher quality and costs less. Thus, translation customers can operate flexibly and remain in control of the process. Key components for networking with the Across Language Server:
