crossTerm terminology system
crossTerm is the across terminology system and is far more than just a digital dictionary. It summarizes all entries that contain the same phrase and presents all possible terms at a glance. Definitions, images, etc. can be optionally stored, as well as grammatical information or hints for correct use.
crossTerm also excels through seamless integration and while working with crossDesk the source text already shows the translator which words are connected to crossTerm entries and is able to integrate them in the target text. Conversely, translations coming directly from the source and target texts can also be placed in crossTerm.

The so-called »concordance search allows a term search in Translation Memory entries. This allows the translator to see at a glance in which context the word was used in the past.
The crossTerm entry structure is adaptable. The linking of corresponding entries allows for the creation of individual interlaced relationships between terms. The terminology know-how created through this method can either be used to benefit all authorized users in general or selectively, connected with certain subjects, projects or authors.
For this reason, the crossTerm web server is optionally available to offices, specialized departments and other places that do not carry out the actual translation work. Users can access the terminology via a web browser even if they do not have their own across installation.
Professionals use the integrated »terminology extraction already included with across as standard. With its help, the trade language can be separated from the text prior to translation, in order to, e.g. determine the degree of difficulty of a text or to make the specific terminology accessible in advance.
crossTerm can also be optionally pre-filled with digital content from standard dictionaries.
crossTerm is included in all »versions of across.
