One editor for everyone: crossDesk

crossDesk is the central working environment for translating and displays at a glance all content that is relevant to the translation.

Because of the uniform design - regardless of »the format of the document - the translator can work without being distracted by the source text application and works solely in and with across.

The »crossView window allows the translator to navigate quickly within the document. For instance, segments can be sorted according to their current status in order to systematically finalize those which still need to be completed.

Only those format markings necessary for the translation itself are visible in the source and target text windows.  A WYSIWYG view is available in the background and can be called on whenever necessary.

The »crossTank window shows those translation units (stored as sentence pairs) that have a certain degree of similarity to the sentence being translated.

The »crossTerm window on the right displays words and expressions that have been stored in the terminology system.

Occurrences in both translation memory and terminology system can be adopted by simply doubleclicking the respective word or sentence. After finishing the translation task, across exports the target text in its original format.

crossDesk is included in all »versions of across.
