Across Patches and Service Packs

Patches and Service Packs are designed to subsequently install the latest changes to the program within a defined updated version of Across.

Basic Points before Starting

Across Language Server v5.0 SP1

The current patch for Across v5 SP1 is patch F.

The installation of this patch assumes that you have a functional installation of Across v5 or Across v5 SP1.

IMPORTANT: Please note that as a user of Across v5, you will automatically update to Across Version v5 SP1 with the installation of this patch. Our basic recommendation that you back up your data before updating your Across version applies here in particular!

First download the latest patch onto your computer and unzip the files:

Across Language Server v5.0

The current version of the Across Language Server is the Version v5 SP1. Customers who would like to upgrade from v5 to v5 SP1 can do this by installing the current patch for v5 SP1 (see above).

For customers who are using Across v5 but who do not yet wish to update to Across v5 SP1, we will continue to make the last available patch for Across v5 available here.

First download the latest patch onto your computer and unzip the files:

Please note:

1. During auto-patching, online and offline users may receive the following warning: "The following Across applications and services are running: across.exe. Please close/stop them before patching." Please inform your translators that in this case they should select "Ignore". The "across.exe" process can also be terminated via the Task Manager.
2. After installing the patch, it may take up to half an hour to start the crossTank Server with large databases.

Updating Across Standalone Versions and Across Clients
(Personal Edition, standby Client, LAN Client, WAN Client offline, WAN Client online)

After you have downloaded and unzipped the patch (see above):

  1. Make sure you have administrator rights for the PC in question.
  2. Close Across.
  3. Run the file setup.exe (e.g. via the Windows start menu 'Run', select the file setup.exe and conclude by clicking 'OK').
  4. Restart Across.

Updating an Across Language Server

  1. Notify any Clients that may be logged on that the Across Server will be temporarily unavailable.
  2. Stop all relevant services (Across Server, crossTank and crossTerm in crossAdmin and, if applicable, crossAPI and crossVPN) then close crossAdmin and, if applicable, Across on the Server.
  3. Check the control panel/administration/services to ensure that these services have really been discontinued.
  4. Run the file setup.exe.
  5. Restart the Across Server (or restart the services that were stopped).

In the log directory of your Across installation you will find detailed information about the patch you have installed.

Installing Clients

If new Clients are needed for your Across Language Server during updating (computers on which Across has not yet been installed), the relevant resources are available here. Please use a v5 or v5 SP1 Client depending on the version of the Across Language Server you use.
