New: translation-oriented authoring

Efficient translations begin with the source text. If the source text makes use of phrases and terms for which entries exist in the translation memory and in the terminology system, this helps to minimize the translation workload later on.

For the relevant source text editors, there are plugins that enable ongoing interaction with crossTank and/or crossTerm while writing. The hits can easily be integrated in the source text with a mouse click or by means of shortcuts.

For example, the editor may see that the term "hard drive" is defined as a word not to be used, and that "hard disk" is to be used instead. Moreover, the translation memory may already contain an entry for the phrase "Please feel free to contact us", while the phrase "Please do not hesitate to contact us" would require a new translation.

Plugins for translation-oriented authoring are mostly developed and marketed by across technology partners; only crossAuthor for Word is offered directly by across Systems.

crossAuthor for word is the plugin for MS Word. Occurrences in crossTank and crossTerm are continuously displayed while writing and can easily be adopted.
